Lessons are offered by Dee Turner, USAPA instructor/referee and gold medal winner, three times a week for beginners and playing skills for intermediate levels.
2008 El Dorado Ranch Pickleball
October 2007 marked the second season of Pickleball at Eldorado Ranch. The season started out slow but by the end of March 2008 we had a rousing 35 players. Thanks to the ranch for providing balls and paddles this new sport at El Dorado has really taken off. The nice thing is that those who no longer have the knees or backs to play tennis have crossed over to pickle ball!
Monday, Wednesday and Fridays have become regular pickle ball game days with hours from 7:30 - 10:30am. We also have the night “guys”, the staff and anyone who wants to get out and really play some aggressive pickle ball in the evenings. Sundays have brought out the advanced players for their own games and challenges.
Dee Turner has continued to offer “free” lessons and demos to all new pickle ball players. New players are encouraged to show up, just check the El Dorado Ranch activity schedule and be sure to wear tennis shoes. Also, on the activity schedule are select times for beginner, intermediate and advanced players to play.
The second annual El Dorado Ranch pickle ball tournament March 30th thru June 1, 2009 brought out the best of the best, the athletics staff and new and old players alike.
This year since there are only 2 courts available for play, the tournament was spread over a few days to accommodate everyone in all the playing divisions. This year there was Men’s Doubles, advanced and Intermediate levels. Medals were given for Gold, Silver and Bronze competitors.

The women’s division was a little scarce this year, but we all had plenty of fun.

The vision for Pickleball at El Dorado Ranch is under construction at the new Cachanilla Courts and hopefully there will be four new pickle ball courts in October to start out the new season. Overall, the enthusiasm and support of the activities department has been incredible. Catch the fun and continuing exercise here at El Dorado Ranch!!
