Pat Butler, president of the San Felipe Development Company and developer of La Ventana del Mar, is also the developer of El Dorado Ranch, San Felipe's largest residential and retirement development and the largest employer in the area.

El Dorado Ranch and La Ventana del Mar are very successful projects and have become a very important part of the growth and development of San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico.

The following is the history of El Dorado Ranch & La Ventana del Mar:

El Dorado Ranch is an ecologically sustainable resort, in operation since 1989. The project is located 7 miles north of the fishing town of San Felipe and 120 miles, or two hours south of the border from the towns of Calexico and Mexicali. San Felipe is 4.5 hours driving time from San Diego and 6.5 hours driving time from L.A. and 7 hours from Phoenix through Interstates 8 and 10 and Mexican Highway 5. San Felipe’s international airport is 15 minutes away. The development theme embodies preservation of the natural habitat combined with the best of seaside and desert living. Most of the lots sold to date offer ocean views because the natural terrain slopes 3 to 4 % towards the Sea of Cortez. Strict CC&Rs are enforced to maintain and enhance the overall development.

El Dorado is being developed in phases because its vast land holdings exceed 35,000 acres zoned for residential and tourism development. The following projects are in operation today: over 20 Residential communities with 5,000 lots sold and 1,000 homes, Beach and Tennis Club and three Restaurants and Bars. Its subdivisions boast the largest solar and strawbale communities in North America. The Beach and Tennis Club and present expansion phase provide access to the beach and warm waters of the Sea of Cortez where clam digging, fishing and water sports are popular activities. El Dorado also offers equestrian trails, horseback riding, fishing, and outings to natural springs in the nearby Sierra Mountains and National parks. Other future phases include: a commercial village, an additional 18-hole desert golf course and clubhouse, recreational amenities and additional residential communities.

The international management team of El Dorado has more than 35-years experience in promoting and operating hospitality projects in both the USA and Mexico. The team is responsible for promoting Ranch tourism in the United States and successfully attracts more than 10,000 visitors per year to El Dorado Ranch.

The newest seaside project that Pat Butler is developing is La Ventana del Mar. The Phase I of this unique community consists of an 18-hole seaside championship golf course with 355 residential lots. Phase II adds the clubhouse to the golf course, and adds 389 new home sites. The latest addition is 300 condominiums that wrap around the La Ventana Del Mar golf course and the beach. This will all be anchored by a 240 room hotel with a Spa. La Ventana del Mar is designed to be a premier, seaside community that offers exceptional and affordable retirement and vacation living.

We think you will be as excited as we are about this new project. Stay tuned to this site for upcoming information.

More Awards:

Distinguished Executive Award - Pat Butler, Developer of El Dorado Ranch and La Ventana del Mar, and co developer of Estrella del Mar, receives the 2006 Ejecutivo Distinguido (Distinguished Executive) Award for his contributions to the community of San Felipe, Mexico.

Pat Butler was recently awarded the Mexicali Business Executive of the Year 2006 Award. This was a special honor because it’s only the third time in the 47-year history of the organization that the award has been presented to a foreigner (one other American and a Chinese business man who opened factories in Mexicali.) This award was made possible because of a lot of people that have been a major part of the development of El Dorado Ranch – Pat's wife Doreen; all of the managers and staff in the Denver, San Felipe, and Mexicali offices, the state and city government offices who El Dorado Ranch heavily depend on for permits; the suppliers; R-MAC and Classic Pacific partners; and of course all of the loyal owners and members.
